Claire Gay

Claire is a regular presenter for Videojug and fronts their Get Thrifty Channel and previous to this was been a reporter for Channel 4's  Superscrimpers. A committed up-cycler, crafter and forager with a deep love for food. Claire’s passion for craft and sewing was passed on from her grandmother, Kathleen, who worked as a personal stylist nearly all her working life for Knight and Lee (now John Lewis) who taught her how to sew, craft and style. Claire studied fashion and textiles, managed various boutiques and eventually opened her very own. From here she stretched her creative wings and started making fashion accessories by commission leading her to have her millinery exhibited at the Saatchi gallery, London.

Claire says “she sees beauty and lost elegance in everyday objects that most people would deem junk, from old tatty books to an utterly knackered bonnet chest”. Her pieces are sold by commission in shops around Hampshire, where she also holds up cycling and lifestyle classes.

Claire has ventured into the worlds of modelling and acting.

Most recently Claire’s hosted weekend stage talks at the Ideal Home Christmas show and a week at the Ideal Home Spring fair. Claire is one of their "ask the experts" for up cycling, crafting, interior decoration/design and cooking.

Behind the scenes you will find Claire cooking up a storm for her family, climbing trees with her boys, shabby chicing furniture, eyes down to a sewing machine, stomping across fields with a rifle, waist deep in the River Test with a fishing rod, head first in a berry bush or blissfully lost at a car boot sale.
